Correlation Guides to the Disciplinary Core Ideas (DCIs)
Uncovering Student Ideas in Science books (USI series) published before 2013, do not include the related disciplinary core ideas from the Framework for K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) in the teacher background notes. All books published after 2013 do include these connections in the teacher background notes. The correlation charts listed below can be downloaded to identify probes that are related to or aligned with the disciplinary core ideas (DCI's). See bottom of each chart for codes to the books the probes are published in as well as the difference between a probe being related to a DCI or aligned with a DCI. These charts can be downloaded as word documents and customized to fit your K-12 teaching context. Updated charts will be provided as new books in the USI series are released.
