Mathematics Formative Assessment- 50 New Strategies for Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning by Page Keeley and Cheryl Rose Tobey, is published by Corwin Press and co-published by the National Council on Teaching Mathematics (NCTM). This book (volume 2) adds 50 more practical techniques to the 75 techniques in Volume 1. Mathematics educators now have 125 techniques to inform instruction while simultaneously supporting engaged learning. Like Volume 1, this book includes a description of 50 FACTs (Formative Assessment Classroom Techniques) that can be used for the purposes of eliciting and identifying preconceptions, engaging and motivating students, activating thinking and promoting metacognition, providing stimuli for math discussions, initiating mathematical investigation, supporting concept development and transfer of knowledge, improving questioning and responses, providing feedback, supporting peer and self-assessment, and reflecting on learning.  Several of the FACTs can be used along with the Uncovering Student Thinking in Mathematics probes. Below is a list of the 50 FACTs included in this book (* indicates the same technique is included in the science version of the book). Some of the FACTs include a link to a downloadable template that can be used to customize the FACT.
